British Army Surplus originated as Uniproducts. In 1947 it opened the first of 14 army and navy stores in the North West of England. Probably the first army surplus retail store chain.

Later its owners became the first exclusive contractors of the M.O.D disposal sales agency selling all army surplus clothing and textiles. Since the expansion of the internet BAS now concentrates its business in the direct selling of military clothing, boots and equipment.
